Im wondering if anyone can tell me when her new books are going to be coming out? I am waiting ( with bated breath, might I add ) for strange fate. This is the first I'm hearing about Brionwyn's Lullaby. I am also very disappointed about this stupid ghost writer. That's why the last book seemed so off. I'm really bummed that the ghost writer is going to be doing the new Secret Circle. Should I even bother with it?

Lisa will finish Strange Fate when she will and is still feverishly writing it, so the exact date it's coming out is still unknown until shes finished writing it. She is hoping to get it published by 2014. As for Brionwy's Lullaby, I've heard they changed the name to "The Last Lullaby" and it will be a sort of a side story of some post-apocolypti c adventure to the Night World series. If you want to find out more about it, theres a sneak peek of it in the stories section, it's sure to be really good :)

Had recent conversation with Lisa and looks like the deadline for Brionwy's Lullaby comes first then Strange Fate. Either case, she is writing all three at the same time.

How would that work, if Strange Fate's events would be needed to explain Brionwy's Life? The deadlines for these books, are they within the next 10 months (or is that confidential)? Since I am pretty much, completely obsessed with Night World, I would like to see how Lisa would tie it all in, including the short stories she has written.

She wrote the book but the publisher rejected it because it is not how they wanted it. The book that is out in the bookstore now is written by ghostwriter. As a selling tool, "Created by L. J. Smith" is on the cover of these new books. However, L. J. did not write these new series.

Utterly disappointed to learn of this. I severely doubt any other writer could stay true to the characters traits/personal ities and LJ's style of writing.

Especially at such a (I feel) important part.

Not sure if theres any way around it but I'm pretty sure fans would back LJ if there was anyway for her to regain the rights to continue the series.

Been reading her books since they were first released (when I was a teen). Loved them then and still love them now as a young woman fast (faster than I'd like) approaching 30.

I for one will be boycotting. If its not by LJ, I'm not interested. They can - with all due respect of course - shove them where the sun doesn't shine ;)

Would it be possible for L. J. Smith to post her original version of Phantoms, here on her website, for her fans to read for free? I've been looking forward to it's publication & now I am terribly disapointed to hear that the version that has been published was not penned by her. I would much rather read her version & I will not be purchasing the "ghostwritten" version of Phantoms!

I bought this book and started reading this before I saw that she didn't write it. They make it so that you don't notice the "Created by" part since it looks like all the other books.

From the moment I started reading it, it just didn't seem right. The chemestry of the characters just wasn't there and the ghostwriter changed a bunch of things from the way Midnight ended. It seems as if they are trying to make it more like the T.V. show as they are trying to make Bonnie a full witch now.

I just don't understand why a publisher wouldn't let the creator of the series FINISH the series, especially if they are going to continue it anyway. It makes more sense for them to allow L.J. Smith to write her own books so that the people reading them will enjoy them instead of boycotting them, as I intend to do for the new books coming out not written by her.

It's because the contract she originally signed had her down as "writer for hire". She technically didn't own the series. And you're right, she was taken off because the stupid fans who watched the show and THEN read the books were annoyed that the books weren't like the show.

Hi Christina! Could you please ask Lisa this one question for me? What is Aradia's last name? I've been reading and re-reading the books, but haven't been able to find any answers. She fascinates me so much because I'm blind myself and would like to know anything there is to know about her.

The thing about The Vampire Diaries and The Secret Circle majorly pisses me off though! I already got a really bad feeling when the freaking Stefan's Diaries books were published. I mean, not only was it based on the horrible TV-Show, but they got the nerve to publish it with Lisa's name stuck on the cover when someone else wrote the darn thing.
Sorry for my rant! But I'm against films and TV-Shows based on novels in general. But this -- I've lost my words!

Sincerely,
Leonora

This is just coming for me so I could be wrong. But I always assumed Aradia was a Harman. She is the Maiden of a powerful group of witches (Mother, Maiden, Crone). The Harmans are the most influential group of witches and Grandma Harman is the Crone. One day Aradia will be the Mother and eventually the Crone. I hope this helps.

I think Aradia is in fact a harman, but no a harman by name, since the Witch families go by the mother's last names, Aradia herself would not be officially considered a "Harman" I think that I read somewhere in Black Dawn that Aradia, herself, was not Harman. It would be very interesting to learn her real last name, because I love her pureness and she is an amazing character, and one of my favorites :)

+1 # Genes...Lisabeth 2012-04-09 16:02
Does it really matter? Yes, she (Aradia) is beautiful, but what I really found compelling about this chracter is how beautiful she is on the inside (wise, stong...). Sylvia Weald is beautiful and got her good looks from the Harman genes. But she did a lot of bad things, and one of the reasons she did all those things was because she didn't inheritid the Harman name. And I bet that she isn't the first witch to turn "evil" because of the Harman name. The witches says that they are all daughters of Hellewise, however, it seems that it's only the Harmans that really think of it that way.
I'm still very uncertain about Aradia Crowley, though. She is adopted, and I think that is why she didn't inherited the Harman name which her adopted(?) mother Selena Harman had, but inherited her adopted(?) father's name (Neal Crowley) Crowley in stead.
So her mother is Selena Harman, but her biological mother is another story, maybe one we will hear in Strange Fate.

Yes there is going to be a tenth book! Huray! Since this is probably the last book in the Night World series it has taken a little longer for L. J. Smith to write it than the others. But, waiting isn't so bad, when you have a lot of other books of L. J. Smith to read! Have you read Dark Visions? Or the Forbidden Game? (If you like L. J. Smith's badboys than you're gonna love Gabriel (Dark Visions) and Julian (the Forbidden Game), I sure did... .
Did I mention that the tenth Night World book is called Strange Fate? It's about Sarah Strange who is a human with VERY special dreams, and about her two (yes, you heard right. TWO!) soulmates; Kierlan Drache, who is a shapeshifter like his cousin Galen (Witchlight) and Mal Harman who is a witch AND a vampire(!!!). It's been said that Kierlan is a big cat and that Mal hasn't "cultivated" his powers. But I'm sorry to tell you that no one knows when Strange Fate is comming out, just yet.

L. J. Smith has said she would like to write a sequel to the Forbidden Game. But that would be after Brionwy's Lullaby (The Last Lullaby), Strange Fate and Eternity: A Vampire Love Story.
So... Yeah... We're in for a long wait. But, L. J. Smith has also said that it would be an adult book. So that means we can wait for years and years and still read the sequel and enjoy it (But, I personally have a feeling that I'm still going to be reading her books when I'm fifty. .). And her fans from the 90s can read them too (Maybe you are one of her old fans...) and enjoy them.
But I wonder what the sequel is going to be about... Hmmm...

In this case it means a collection of three of her books in one, and in general it may mean the same thing, or just several books fit together in one book, but still separate. That may be a little confusing, but I think I got the idea out.

Just the other day I saw the new ghostwritten series of 'The vampire diaires' on the shelves of Waterstones. I opened the book to take a peak at the writing language - any true reader would realise would know it wasn't L J's book! The writing language was completely un-elena and un-vampirediari es! I nearly laughed then I felt like crying when I finally realised L J wouldn't be writing any more (I always thought she might be able to write them again). I suppose I'll just keep re-reading Midnight (always cry when Damon dies). What a wasted cliff hanger! :'( personally, I thought the element of elena and stefan-and-damo n WAS the element of TVD. I agree with other posts; would L J be able to post on this website what she originally wrote???

I don't think that it would be possible for L. J. Smith to post the original book here... Sometimes I have a feeling that L. J. Smith isn't even allowed to write what she likes here. When she for example asked us to try the new books written by the ghostwriter? Would you have asked your fans to read something that should by all rights be yours and that had been changed into something that... that... that doesn't send the same message to the readers? Wasn't Elena supposed to travel back to the Dark Dimension and free all the slaves? Will the ghostwriter include that in "her" books? I don't think so.
Since she doesn't own the Vampire Diaries according to the law, then I don't think she can post anything about it any longer.
And I think we should stop asking all this questions to L. J. Smith. After her mother died, she was able to write again. And what she wrote was the Vampire Diaries. And now she can't write it anymore. Get it? It must hurt like Hell.

Does anybody know if she will write a sequel for Dark Vision? because that would be cool to know where they are helping the Fellowship of the Cristal and what new challenges they would be facing. or better yet! what can Lydia do? It would be nice to read!

Yes it would have been wonderfull to read! And L. J. Smith has said somthing about writing a sequel. But it's a very long list of other books she (and the fans, of course) would like to wite first. And many fans would also love a sequel to the Forbidden Game.
So... If I were you, I would read some of her other books. Have you read her other trilogy the Forbidden Game that I mentioned earlier? I would higly recommend it. .
But again; I would be VERY nice to read a sequel to Dark Visisons!

During my entire high school education reading was a hassle for me, until I picked up one of L.J. Smith's books. Now it seems I cannot get enough. I have read every book that she has written. They are ALL amazing and they give me a place to escape to. Please never stop writting! My life wouldn't be the same without your stories. What a wonderful imagination and thank you for helping me increase me interest in the english language and in literature. I now write poems and stories of my own and could only hope to one day be as great as you. Although I'm not even sure that is possible. Thank you!!!

'Completing'? Does that mean like, editing? I just want to ask: is there ever going to be an exact date for The NIght World: Strange Fate and The Last Lullaby? I mean, I have been dying for it. Figuratively speaking. My friends; they love books, but not as much as me, and they don't like much fantasy, like me. But they're waiting for a couple of other books from other series - not be L J Smith - and the dates are out. In fact, the books are already out. I am actually planning to buy a couple for one of my friends' birthday. She's mad about it. But ... I can tell that she feels totally sorry for me; having to wait forever for the books.

So ... here's my question? What is the exact date? Please, please, please, let me know! The REAL one, because I kept seeing all these other sites, and I kept getting my hopes up, only to have them come crashing back down, again.

And there you have the point!

"and I kept getting my hopes up, only to have them come crashing back down, again."

Yeah... The thing is (if I'm allowed to say this since L. J. Smith i bussy writing Strange Fate...) that this is probably the last book in the Night World series. So it's very important for L. J. Smith to get it written down right. And therefore it takes a longer time than the other books. And if she started telling us when it would be finished we would just get our hpoes up (like you said) and if it turned out that she needed some more time we would only have our hopes come crashing back down, again (as you said). So she is just saving us some more pain.

BTW: There is no REAL release date, because nobody knows.

(I'm sorry if I have offended you: L. J. Smith by jumping to the wrong conclusions or anything.)

I've always loved Ash Redfern, but wanted to be Jez Redfern, she is just so strong! Please release the book soon, so I can re-read all the books again, not that I need an excuse...

Mam I'm a huge fan of THE VAMPIRE DIARIES series. So, I started working on the same theme and after working for a year I prepared a plot. But, I don't want to publish the same in a novel format. I want to create a TV fantasy show on it. could you find me a reference to some of the production houses who make such supernatural TV shows.....???

At this time, there are only 3 books in The Dark Visions series. LJ has said she MAY make a 4th book in the future, but that will not be for a long, long time. I would recommend The Forbidden Game next or The Night World. They are both amazing series! Currently, The Forbidden Game is my favorite so I would choose that next :P I actually love all her works, so I would recommend that you eventually go through her whole collection ;) Do not skip The Night of The Solstice & The Heart of Valor(Wildword series)! There may not be any romance in them, but they are packed with magic and adventure!

Oh but she did write The Vampire Diaries. Its just the books after Midnight that she didn't write *sad face*. Yes I HALF agree with you, that some people are only here for the Vampire Diaries because of the tv show. But there are other fans who do like the books too! Me for example :3 . Oh and I just loooove the Night World books too! Whose your favorite characters? I think if people tryed reading her other books they'd really like them! ^^
