You are right Lisa did say in a blog not to boycott. While I respect her immensely, I just don't agree with her on that point. She is a very classy person and I admire her saying not to boycott. But buying ghostwritten books is like endorsing Alloy's decision.
I refuse to merely pay lip service to something and then contradict myself by the way I spend my money. Boycotting is the only way we can send a message to Alloy that we will not stand for the way they have treated Lisa and us. They have ignored our letters, questioned our intelligence by thinking we wouldn't notice, and lied to us by failing to admit what they did. If they are not pleased with the outcome, it is up to them to change their behavior. It is not about making trouble. It is about exercising our rights as consumers.

I will definitely send Alloy/Harper an email letting them know how I feel. Even though it may be legal, just borderline if you ask me-a technicality, it's ethically wrong and they need to know just how disappointed THEIR once beloved fan base is now that the original author has no say in it. They deserve to know just how disppointed we are.
I don't think I'll "boycott" them per se, but I won't buy their books like I have in the past. Libraries are good for that purpose. Emma, I think I'd like to set up a special section somewhere on the site for those winners that have won contest prizes. When that section finds a home on this site, will you come back and post a little "Thank You LJ!" note for other fans to see?

0#Hi Lisa - did you say this? —
sofia2011-12-05 02:21
Hi Lisa
I was informing fan's of the Strange Fate current situation and cam across the following information. Is it true?
I'm now working on the second half of Strange Fate, and for all of you groaning in the gallery, the first half was 600-and seventy or eighty pages and DI begged S & S to put out the book in two parts, in which case you would have Part I: The Mystic sooner. But they are adamant and I can only offer you sneak peaks of the main characters sometime soon.Don't worry about me dawdling about writing Part 2: The Seeress--because after that's done in four or five months I have to start on the second new Vampire Diaries book". so as you can see there seems to be a wait still but worth it for the size of the book to come... hope that helps someone :)
I'm not sure if that is really a quote from Lisa. But I remember seeing something similar ages ago. So even if it is her words, it is old news. I believe we are better off checking "News and Announcements" on the Forum for the latest information.
I am a new writer and I was wondering if there is a place to sort of...advertise...and I thought Lisa would know because she has been writing for so long, but since she is taking a break from the forum, I guess I'll just ask the general public. So...is there?
I was looking through the Kind Notes website after reading Lisa's blog post. I think I'm going to be recreating my own (overseas shipping from America *gulp* - It's either plant a tree or make my own) for my mum this Christmas. And possibly one for myself as well, because I tend to get a little down whenever I watch the headlines / read the newspaper / hear stories from other people. We all need little bits of encouragement that you can find on a tiny piece of paper. Which brings me onto what I really wanted to say. I have two quotes. One: "Books may be the only true magic" - I think this applies to any kind of (non-hateful) writing, really. And Two: "Don't go down the path to wherever it may lead you. Go where there is no path and leave a trail." YES! This is my favourite quote EVER, and I found it on the Kind Notes website and was like "yay, someone must agree!" LEAVE YOUR OWN TRAIL Nelly xx
Not a trail of devastation, obviously. A nice, memorable, immortal trail of good deeds and radical reformation of the world Or maybe just a thoughtful word or two to the people you love most - it doesn't have to be a Les Miserable student revolution type thing. (Although I would find that preferable). Thanks, Lisa, for writing that blog post. And, Christina, that was really nice of you to give one to Lisa
I also really like those quotes :) And I totally agree xD I always say that true magic exists in books - can you think of any other inanimate object so powerful? I'm thinking of checking that website out too.....it sounds like a great idea! And yes Christina, that was REALLY sweet :)
I have been very sick with the flu & my laptop broke with all my new book ideas & chapters - for the feel of characters, what thy are like but to answr your Q. Hey Sofia, sorry for the late reply. Hope you are better and that your laptop is fixed and that you didn't loose all your work on it. I'm delighted that your book ideas are coming together and that everything is going well with it. I'm sure it will succeed and happy writing.
Hope your son is well... i hate the numb, ticklish feeling, accompanied with a cough. At least he has avoided a flu/temprature. lol thank u & cc for your kind words. I wonder how Lisa is doing...
Hey Sofia and Admin Sofia I hope you get better soon, it is terrible to be sick during the holidays. Admin I hope your son gets better also. My thoughts are with you both and I wish ye a speedy recovery.
A few weeks ago I went to my favorite book Store and they had "Phantom" .I looked at it and thought to myself " I will never buy it" . It is so sad knowing that now that L.J.Smith is not writing TVD Damon and Elena have no chance at all. :(
MariaS It is sad isn't it? But I guess it is just one of those things that we have to deal with in life. What was done to Lisa was cruel and unjust. They took away her projects, to a writer, practically a part of them, as the characters are like extensions of their own personality, and they gave them to untalented, nameless, people that don't deserve the name author. Who would agree to write somebody else's series? I personally believe that the ghost writers are as almost as bad as the company. But this is something that Lisa has handled incredibly well. She has continued writing, and kept her head held high. I may not know her personally, but I couldn't be prouder of how my favourite author dealt with this horrible thing. She is still writing for the Night World Series and Forbidden Game, and is also working on new projects, and so you (and anyone else seeing this) should definitely check those out. Also, I agree with you CC - boycotting IS the way to show our distaste.
Im sure Lisa & all her fan'swill appreciate your spirit and words. Thank You for bycottig, not all do but that is why Christina advised to get them from a library for low sales. Another remarkble idea from the remarkble lady.
I can say you not missing much with Phantom - The reviews are awful & no I did not read it. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT AWFUL ALLOY'S TRUTH - where Secret Circle & Vampire Diaries are concerned. lol
I boycotted as soon as I heard; real fans will not buy desecrated books. And yes, I must agree, Christina is certainly wonderful. She doesn't like our praise, but what would we do without her really?
The book you are asking about will be written by a ghostwriter. Lisa will have nothing to do with it. Personally, I refuse to read or discuss ghostwritten books.

Sadly, I am serious. Lisa is still not allowed to write the series. I'm not sure where you got your information, but it is incorrect. I wish it were true, but it isn't.
Whaaat???? Not again! I cannot believe this is happening It's just not fair!! Seriously, I love Secret Circle and the fact that L.J. Smith writes it brilliantly. Whoever's doing this to her has several screws loose.

There isn't a publication date because it hasn't been written, yet. I'm thinking it will be awhile because Lisa is currently working on three other books. It is so exciting to have so many good books to look forward to.

hi! i don't want to be dumb now but i have checked the tv serie and with that i mean vampire diaries and honestly i don't think the serie suck.particular, it has its shortcomings but so has the books to. i think the serie is good couse Elena is not so spoiled and in the serie she even has a little brother. And the bad, in the serie they took away meredith and they say in the serie that Elena was adopted. And it is sure more from both sides. Like elena is not blond in the serie. and one more thing i know that makers of the vampire diaries take this like an excuse: well we did not want to do this so much after the books couse when the books is ended we can't keep doing the serie then. but way could they not keep on go when it was like 7 books? and even if the completed all the books they could use their own ideas. and just one more thing i think the ending of the fourth book was not that good like i thought of. couse she came back from the dead like jesus or something.

I don't watch the show because I don't like the changes. I realize not everything can be the same. But really how hard is it to keep the names and hair colors straight? If the changes don't bother you though that's great.
I don't really understand why you felt the need to criticize Dark Reunion (the 4th book) at the end of your post. This is L. J. Smith's site, show some respect. A lot of people (including me) liked the book. And without it there wouldn't have been books 5-7 because Elena would have still been dead. The way Elena came back to life fit with the story. It was nothing like Jesus resurrecting.

English is definitely not my first language either and it has nothing to do with this in my opinion. Giving people some slack is one thing but if you make a point to complain within a literary author's own site about her work filled with typos and grammatical errors is another. Amusingly ironic I thought...

Hello! :) i have a question about Night world. In sweden the second book came out for 3 months ago or something like that maybe 4. But when is the third book coming out in sweden?
Hey Johanna I'm not from Sweden, so I don't know when the 3rd book is coming out. But you should try amazon (they have an amazon for most countries, as far as I know) they will surely have it there as it is out in most parts of the world. Or maybe try another site that sells books to Sweden or Europe, or you could ask someone in the bookstores to check and order it for you. Hope this helps.
im new and thought i would just say hi to everyone i have not read all the book yet but working on it. i love them so far and im sure i will love the rest. have a good day all.

Hi Tabitha and Onnagh McKenna Glad to see you here. If ye haven't already ye should join the forum. It is free to register and we have great conversations about Lisa's books and writing in general. It is a great place and you will meet lots of like minded people who offer great help and are happy to talk about every single one of Lisa's book and even the one's she is working on at the moment or plan to.
A few months ago I wrote to a magazine regarding what happened with Lisa and the Vampire Diaries. I said I'd wait for a few months to see if they would print it. I thought they might wait until Phantom was out. But alass they haven't. When I heard the same thing has happened with the Secret Circle my blood really started to boil. How dare they do this to Lisa not once but twice! So I decided I would try the magazine thing again. Only this time I think I know where I went wrong. The last time they only recieved one e-mail regarding the matter, but this time I am asking you Lisa's fans to get in contact with them too, by e-mail, Facebook or Twitter. I have e-mailled them all the information all I would like you to do is get in contact and tell them to put it in their magazines. I really think we can reach more people this way. I would have sent this earlier but I read that Phantom wouldn't be out until January. Their contact deetails are underneath.
I like the way you are thinking. What magazine did you contact? I can't see their info. in your post. Also sending your letter via postal mail as well as email may increase your chances of being heard.
Kiss and Stellar Magazines (Irish) E-Mail: infokiss.ie Twitter: @kiss_mag Facebook/kiss magazine
Shout (U.K.) E-Mail: contact by their website Shoutmag.co.uk Twitter @shoutmagUK Facebook: Shout Mag
Bliss E-Mail: contact by their website mybliss.co.uk Twitter: @blissmag Facebook: Bliss.mag Please contact them as feel this is the only way they will spread the news, if enough people ask them to.
Hey Christina the info is right over your post it took awhile to get it there as my computer was acting up I have also posted this in the form so hopefully everyone who visits the site will see it. I added it to the guestbook so people who aren't members of the forum can get invovled too. Also I will hopefully contact some American mags tomorrow. I added the countries so that if you see a mag from your country hasn't been contacted and you feel they should be my guest and e-mail or write to them. Also if anyone knows any adult (non-teen) mags you think would print what happened, please do so. And most importantly post back here if you see any progess as I can't buy every mag I contact every month they come out. I'll be broke!

Hi Tatijuana-- I like your name~ I'm glad you read the Night World series, it's definately one of the best! To answer your question, Strange Fate doesn't have a release date yet, and I wouldn't trust anything you read on Amazon about it. If there is any news on when its going to be released... I'd look here first
how many secret circle books are out? im kinda getting confused because people say one thing and then another! and i also felt very irritated when I saw the new vampire diaries book that came out by gostwriter. L.j smiths series was wonderfully written and should stay written by her :) im a huge fan of her books
There are 3 Secret Circle books that are written by L.J. Smith. They are The Initiation, The Captive, and The Power. They are commonly packaged as two omnibus with The Initiation and the first half of The Captive in one and the second half of The Captive and The Power in the other.
There will be a sequel to The Secret Circle coming out soon. However, this book was NOT written by L.J. Smith. Alloy has once again handed over one of L.J. Smith's books to a ghostwriter. Fortunately, they do not have any say in any of her other series so we do not have to worry about anything like this happening again. Us fans have to stick together and let other fans know what has happened.

I read somewhere that some of the characters were going to be killed during the apocalypse? Is that true? And if they are, does that include the soulmate's? It would be so sad to see a couple's killed off. I do love all of them!
Lisa has hinted that not everyone survives, but we are left to guess whether it will be any of the soulmates. Of course, I don't want anyone to die, either. But I think in some ways when characters die it makes the story more meaningful. How could there be an apocalypses with no deaths? I know that no matter what happens Lisa will make sure it makes sense and stays true to the characters' personalities. I can't wait to see how it all turns out.
Thank you! I was wondering if it was a random rumor or if in fact it was true, so thank you! I agree it would make the overall plot a lot more meaningful. Though I don't know how she is going to decide on which to kill! And of course, I agree I can't wait!!!
I know this is sort of awful, but if anyone died I would want it to be Mary Lynette (She is my favorite) I would just love to see how Ash would react. (I know this is awful right?)
I think I know what you mean. I wouldn't say "love" but I would be okay with it if my favorite character (Keller) died because I think sacrificing herself to save the world would be something she would readily do. It is hard to loose our favorites but sometimes that is what makes most sense in the story or leads to really touching/meaningful scenes.
If you haven't joined Forum yet I highly recommend that you do. It is more set up for discussions than the Guestbook. It is a lot of fun and very addictive. There are tons of fun, friendly people that love talking about all the books.
As long as the supporting character dies, not a soulmate but then Lisa knows best & u chris is my sane voice, ignoring my emotional one. I understand an apocalypse brings death & then there is The Prophecy:
One From The Land Of Kings Long Forgotten, One From The Heart That Still Holds The Spark, One From The Day World Where Two Eyes Are Watching, One From The Twilight To Be One With The Dark.
And then there is:
Four To Stand Between The Light & Shadow, Four of the blue fire, Power in their blood, Born In The Year Of The Blind Maiden's Vision, Four Less One And Darkness Triumphs!
Okay Im a little confused Im trying to start reading The vampire dairies series but when i go to Barnes & Noble it get confusing ..First question how series is it? Second whats the order for the series. Please help !

The Vampire Diaries that are written by L. J. Smith are: The Awakening The Struggle The Fury Dark Reunion Nightfall Shadow Souls Midnight They should be read in the order listed. The first four books are commonly packaged as two omnibus with The Awakening and The Struggle in the first one and The Fury and Dark Reunion in the second one. Sefan’s Diaries and any Vampire Diaries not listed above were written by a ghostwriter.
with it becoming a movie. Movies, unlike TV shows, has an ending or a possible lead in to another movie. TV shows are unpredictable. It could get cancelled before the first season is up if there's not enough viewers. If they want to do a TV show, I'd first prefer a movie.

You will get an email with a link to complete the registration process. 2) Once you complete registration be sure to make your first post on the Forum. A good place to start is to introduce yourself at "The welcome Mat."
Maybe this person doesn't speak English as their first language? I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, even if I don't agree with everything they say. :)
English is definitely not my first language either and it has nothing to do with this in my opinion. Giving people some slack is one thing but if you make a point to complain within a literary author's own site about her work filled with typos and grammatical errors is another. Amusingly ironic I thought...
You need to be more specific on what you are seeing. If you are having trouble still, you can send me an email [admin
Glad to see you here. If ye haven't already ye should join the forum. It is free to register and we have great conversations about Lisa's books and writing in general. It is a great place and you will meet lots of like minded people who offer great help and are happy to talk about every single one of Lisa's book and even the one's she is working on at the moment or plan to.
Shout (U.K.) E-Mail: contact by their website Shoutmag.co.uk Twitter @shoutmagUK Facebook: Shout Mag
Bliss E-Mail: contact by their website mybliss.co.uk Twitter: @blissmag Facebook: Bliss.mag
Please contact them as feel this is the only way they will spread the news, if enough people ask them to.
Hi Tatijuana-- I like your name~
I'm glad you read the Night World series, it's definately one of the best! To answer your question, Strange Fate doesn't have a release date yet, and I wouldn't trust anything you read on Amazon about it. If there is any news on when its going to be released... I'd look here first
There will be a sequel to The Secret Circle coming out soon.
I AGRE WITH YOU 100%!
One From The Land Of Kings Long Forgotten,
One From The Heart That Still Holds The Spark,
One From The Day World Where Two Eyes Are Watching,
One From The Twilight To Be One With The Dark.
And then there is:
Four To Stand Between The Light & Shadow,
Four of the blue fire,
Power in their blood,
Born In The Year Of The Blind Maiden's Vision,
Four Less One And Darkness Triumphs!
Whoever Can Give A Better View On The Discussion.
The Awakening
The Struggle
The Fury
Dark Reunion
Nightfall
Shadow Souls
Midnight
They should be read in the order listed. The first four books are commonly packaged as two omnibus with The Awakening and The Struggle in the first one and The Fury and Dark Reunion in the second one. Sefan’s Diaries and any Vampire Diaries not listed above were written by a ghostwriter.
Thanks I did not know the The Hunter was not written by LJ
i hope you'll consider selling your works on your website as ebooks and allowing people to donate or something like this.

I agree with u 100%
I searched l.j.smith on a book site & secret circle: the divide showed up.
I am startled & in pain that after all of the legal battles with Awful Alloy, they still managed to use Lisa's name, in order to keep fans oblivious from the Truth & gain a audience with a NewYork BestSellers Author's Name, not showing a shred of respect to us & Lisa.
Please Boycott Awful Alloys Ploys & dont buy!
If u want class, witty dialouge, characters that leave u chasing after them, joy & a place to belong.
Please Read Only:
NIGHTWORLD
FORBIDDEN GAMES
DARK VISION
SECRET CIRCLE BOOK 1-3
VAMPIRE DIARIES 1-7
Works By Lisa aka L.J.SMITH
These have alternated on the New York Best Seller List from the 90's till present, up until Midnight released recently - the last book written by Lisa in the Vampire Diaries Series & in my opinion the last book in the series.
