Night World is totally my favourite LJ Smith series and one of my favourite series (what is the plural of series?) of all time! I think I said this in an ealier guestbook . . . oh well.
The characters are really life like and I think that it's easy to imagine them as real people. They don't weaken as the books go along - with some other books you lose a sense of what the character is like. But it's not like that in Night World! I love all the strong female characters like Rashel, Keller, Hannah, Mary-Lynnette, Jez . . . etc.
And it's also thanks to LJ Smith that I got into astronomy, which I'm now doing a GCSE in! lol xx
lisa is truly a role-model as she has helped u express interest in astronomy - i never knew it can be done 4 GCSE!
I just want to say that I totally agree with everything all of you are saying about The Night World. It is definitely my favorite series. I very rarely reread books. However, I have either already or plan to reread all of Lisa’s books. It is sort of funny that I recently bought a new book (from a different author), but I just can’t stop rereading The Night World to actually start the new book (lol). Lisa’s books just get better every time I read them. Keller and Galen are my favorite soulmates, but I love all the couples in the poll, too. The characters are so well developed that I feel like I know them and how they would react in different situations. Lisa is an amazingly talented author.

Night World was the first LJ Smith book I read . . . It was on holiday in Ireland two years ago.
It's great that these books have such a positive impact on people's lives. Now I can totally tell my parents that young adult literature is just as good as 'the classics'
And, yes, you can do Astronomy as a GCSE. I dropped French to take it (thank heavens!)

In the night world theres not many warewolves that are goodies and theve got quite a bad rep.
I agree with the werewolf thing, and LJ Smith actually said something similar herself in the Night World Fan Guide. Lupe is a good wolf though . . . and the name fits, I think Lupe is something about the moon in another language. Like Professor Lupin?

I actually quite like David too, he isn't sporty and popular in the same way that stupid Tom is in The Forbidden Game!

i think that it is bad that one of the main characters died i mean it was elena and i think she is the most important. and then in the end of the book when she came back she came from a flash just like that but if you ignore that the book is very good :) ;)
everyone is entitled 2 their own opinion however the fact that u dislike the ending
shows lisa's talent, as she brought out the intellect in u to express / debate etc.
u felt something and that is the goal of the books, however i have read an old lj interview in which she said the original ending was book 3, elena's death but due 2 fan pressure bought her back in book 4 i.e. flash
it's been a while since i have read the series, im reading new series shadow souls but still remember how overjoyed i was when Elena was brought back but the Fact that u were drawn in so deeply 2 comment show's how real the character or secne was 2 u

lisa was doing "work 4 hire" meaning alloy the book packagers own the right's not her, she was naive and new and due to night of solice and heart of valour having good reviews but low sales she eagerly agreed 2 the contract unaware of she no longer owned her gorgeous characters D . E. S etc but it was her agent's responsibility who didn't inform lisa, disgustingly and now Alloy, after midnight sent her the manu-script 4 phantom with the ghost-writer changes - she wasn't informed respectfully but had the her manuscript with ghost-writer changes, nothing more ...
she didn't choose 2 stop, she was made 2 stop.

Although I'm kind of hoping that five of the characters (I assume the seven are Jez, Morgead, Maggie, Delos, Ilianna and whoever the next wild power and their soulmate are) just go on holiday and don't come back? The line LJ Smith said didn't actually say "Seven go to save the world and five die".

I remembered Lisa saying something about characters that die may not stay dead, too. I looked it up and found her comment under GB 1 near the bottom. She also promised that no one would die in vain. Even though I really don't want to see anyone die, I know that it is sometimes unavoidable and in a way makes the story more powerful.

Hmm...I think L.J also mentioned somewhere that Maya doesn't stay dead either. Erghhh. But I wish she would stay dead. Even though I did sort of feel sorry for her in the end.

If you could be a character in night world , who would you be, and why?
I'd be either Jez or Rashel. I do think mary- lynette and ash are a good couple but i just could'nt be mary-lynette, i would'nt have the strength to say no to ash.

That's an interesting question and so hard to choose. Keller and Galen are my favorite couple, so I would have to say Keller. I think it would be awesome to be a shapeshifter as long as I was able to decide when to change. I also like that Keller is brave and loyal to her friends.
I think Jez and Rashel are great choices, too. Why did you choose them?
Jez: She is a very strong character with a attractive soulmate
Rashel: She's the kind of person i fantasise about being. She is strong, knows how to fight and protects people. Sometimes i try and get into a fighting stance ( it usually fails ) . She also says "this kitten has claws" and people used to call me kitty. I also think Quinn would be a great soulmate.

I really respect Hannah and Jez too, but I couldn't choose between them. I want to make a difference in the world and I could do this being either of the characters.

I love Poppy...I think I'd be Poppy. You know, I'm like quite a bit like her; into music, quite quiet, & always trying to do things for the benifit of others. Like when Ash took her away from James, he said as long as she was around james was in trouble which was why she left. Yeah, I think I'd be Poppy :)

I also love Blaise but I doubt with that attitude she could find love (sorry to sound corny and whatever)
I think in the end it'd have to be Keller. Because she pretends to be strong and everything even though she's insecure which I can relate to. And the way she denies her love because it could save people she doesn't even like I thought that was quite heroic of her. But I do love them all.

they had the opportunity to collabarate with one of the best authors ever, first vampire diaries and now secret circle a tv series too but they destroyed it by in essence firing her work for hire means they own her work and have the right to hire someone else but the fact they have let someone with such potential go is disgusting and in my opinion bad business sense as if i was a tv show series picker to air, i would go to lisa for her other works which have the great plot etc

As for the quotes, I have sent quotes for all of Lisa's books. Admin. said he is going to post them a little at a time. On the side of this page, there is a contact us button. You can send email to Admin. through that by changing the drop down menu to "Site Administrator." That's what I did. I might have already included some of the quotes you are thinking of, but I don't think it would hurt to send them anyway.

Yes, it is true! Lisa talks about it in GB 12. However, it may be awhile because it is not listed on the bibliography page as one of the projects she is currently working on.
I love the books so much and I hope the fourth book of night world would make me soar the same way the others did

The good news is that VD and SC are the only books associated with Alloy and the only ones that have a "work for hire" clause in their contracts. All Lisa's other books have regular contracts, and she has full author rights. No one will be allowed to hire a ghostwriter for them. I think Alloy will regret their decision when they see Lisa's new books becoming best sellers and the ghostwritten books getting low sales.

I have never read Secret Circle. How many parts of this series is?
This series is about witches. Cassie doesn't know she is a witch until she moves to New Salem and finds out that her new friends are witches and so is she. While she is living in her old town, she meets a guy named Adam and it is sort of love at first site. Then Adam shows up in her new town and she finds out he is actually her best friend's boyfriend. Throughout the series she struggles with being in love with Adam but wanting to be loyal to her friend. She is also starting to have feelings for Nick who is moody and mysterious. In addition, people in the town have been getting murdered and the witches are trying to find out what/who is behind it. I liked this series a lot and I think you will, too.

We are supposed to put Spoiler Alert in the subject line when we discuss specific things that happen in the books. That is just in case someone else hasn't read the book yet.
Damon is starting to come back to life at the end of Midnight. He is thinking about Bonnie and Elena. The last thing he remembers is his own name. In another guestbook, Lisa also confirmed that he was alive. I don't know what the ghostwriter will do with Damon. It makes me so sad that we will never know how the story was supposed to end. I guess we will just have to imagine our own ending.
It is possible that Damon lost his memories? That's great that Damon survived but that's a pity that we will not know what will after "Midnight". I am so sad and my heart is bleeding. even if Damon will be in Phantom -I am not interested it, because Lisa won't write Phantom.It is possible that Lisa will write the next part of VD as fanfic? (her fanfic) It would be fantastic

I know what you mean about Keller and Galen. They are my favorite couple, too. I think maybe they were left off just as a way to limit choices. Eric/Thea and Mark/Jade and David/Gillian are also missing. I think they chose the most popular couples for the poll. It could also be that Lisa has already decided what happens to them (live or die).

i was just reading secret circle, coincidently before the competition started and i remember it was my least fave series but once you get half into the first book it gets amazing, the second one is dynamic and the last one makes me want to put in down so it never ends, but im ignoring household chores etc. And am literally glued to it.
But im shocked, i remember as a kid hating it, no comparison to nightworld, forbidden games, dark visions or vampire diaires but im GLAD i read it as it is wonderful!
Im on the last book, the power - im loving it! and hating that it will end

I think having Midnight made into a movie would be a great idea. I agree that Jason Momoa would be perfect for Sage. That is just how I pictured him, too.
I’m curious about which of Lisa’s books/series other people would like to see made into movies and why. My top picks would be The Night of the Solstice/Heart of Valor and The Forbidden Game trilogy. I think these would look really cool with all of the special effects and CGI that they are able to include in movies these days. I think Solstice and Valor would also appeal to a younger audience and draw in more fans that haven’t read the books. The Forbidden Game should definitely be three separate movies. I like how the story continues but yet each book is completely different, too. In my opinion, there are not a lot of really good scary movies. Most “scary” movies are just a bunch of blood and guts. A Forbidden Game movie would provide scary without gore.
