When is Strange Fate coming out? (Updated 5/1/2011)

'Finally . . . Strange Fate. I have said this before, but I will say it again now. Do not believe any sources that give an alleged publication date, except those on this site. I am still writing Strange Fate now, and doing it as fast as I can , , , but, as the last epic saga of the Night World series, it isn't something I can just whip up without much thought and hard work. It is very important to me to get this book right, and I really am working hard on it. I'm terribly sorry if anyone saw a publication date saying it would be out by now. I don't know why anyone would write that.

I am writing Strange Fate right now and it will be out as quickly as I can finish it and Simon & Schuster can publish it. I can’t give an exact date—I’m very sorry. The part of it that you see in Brionwy’s Lullaby (stories section) mushroomed until it became a new book in its own right, leaving Sarah without her, But this may be all to the good, because where these sections once were, now there will be short bits about how the characters in the previous Night World books, like Rashel and Quinn, Poppy, Ash and Mary-Lynnette, Hannah, and others will be fighting the Apocalypse.

So I have been waiting and waiting for Strange Fate to be released. Amazon said it would be released on the 1 of April this year but apparently that is only on audio book and I cannot even get it on Kindle addition till December 31, 2030. I really hope that it will be released soon

Take your time and who cares what all the other people say. You should always be happy with the work you publish but if you hurry it, nothing will come out just as great as all your other books. Don't forget to relax and take some time off because stress won't make the best. Can't wait until the book is pucblished!

I've read The Night World series over 5 times each! I just can't get enough! They are by far my favorite books and you are by far my favorite author! (Ash is my favorite character ever :) He's so awesome! XD) I can't tell you how much I'm craving Strange Fate. Please, don't feel rushed, write until you're completely satisfied with how your masterpiece turned out. I'll be patiently waiting.

Hi, I uderstand there has been issue recently with the publishers... just wondering if you ever thought of bypassing them to go directly to your readers with someone still in the middle to give you feedback and basic editing reviews?

Google books for instance I believe would allow you to publish them yourself via them. support.google.com/.../...

I've picked up most of your series except the vampire diaries. Nightworld and the other books like it. (Forbidden Games) All these books are great. I've enjoyed them a lot. Please take your time just know that we are trying to be patient. This series has to be one of the best that I've read. I hate when I finish them too quickly. Thank you for sharing them with us.

I read the first book from the Vampire Diaries when I was in the 7th or 8th grade, when it FIRST came out. I remember looking for Volume II and never finding it in the library and then high school came and I forgot about the title and author, but I remembered the story and the cover art and I always hoped that I would get to finish it. This was a very long time ago! Needless to say, I remembered the series when I saw the advertisements for the Season Premiere of the "new" show Vampire Diaries. I was so excited that I could finally find the rest of the series and finish it. Childhood desire complete. Except, then I started reading THE REST of your books. Now I find myself waiting for "Strange Fate." I have enjoyed all of your stories. Take your time to do it right. But I will be very excited to complete my collection of your books.

I am a fan of our books and I would like to say that it has taken way too long for you to write this book. You have die hard fans that come on this site everyday to check your blog to see if you have announced when it will be released. I would not be as upset if you were just focusing on the book but you have posted other books, the ending to the secret circle as well as short stories that could be a book. Please do your job and release Strange Fate. It has been freakin 10 freakin years...

It's been several years. While I respect the fact that it takes a while to write especially when you're trying to do a good job.. I must ask, are you honestly planning on releasing this book? There are a LOT of fans that have been left hanging with the third book and have waited patiently. I'm dying to know what happens! I love your work! Lj has been giving status updates via her blog and forum. If you join the forum, look for her posts about the Christmas CD that was made for her and her thank you thread. She is doing her best to get to the finish line. LJ has only rented her whole life and recently bought and moved into a new home. Purchasing your first home is difficult enough as it is, but she has had some pretty big catastrophes take place and her home had been swarming with contractors. I don't think I could work with a bunch of strangers tearing my home up and banging around. She desperately wants to complete the book as soon as possible. Remember, after she is done with her portion, the publishers still have a lot of work to do to get it to us fans. Hope to see you on the forum ;)

Look people, if it were a series that L.j. could whip up, it wouldn't be very good. The longer you wait the better, even if we are all dying to read it. The longer she takes the better the story might be and besides every one deals with lifes dramas, why can't she? And btw the faster you read it, the faster the series becomes ended and idk about you but I'm really sad that its going to end because I love it so much. Either way just quiet down and chill! She needs time to perfect it as much as she feels fit. (:

She is finishing it up now as we speak, but there is NO OFFICIAL release date yet. It will be advertised on this site when there is one.

Remember after she finishes it, she still has to submit to the publisher.

I've read every website and article that comes up on Google when you type in "Night World Strange Fate Release Date" and the sources can't even get it straight WHAT the story is about, nevermind WHEN it's coming out. It would be really nice and tons of fans would thank you greatly if you could PLEASE give at least an approximate release date. Even telling us what YEAR it will be coming out in would be supremely appreciated. Thanks.

She has been giving us updates via the forum on her progress. She is nearly finished, but she is having some speed bumps due to her recently purchased 1st home having some pretty big catastrophes. This website and the forum here are your number one best sources for info. Sites like Amazon give dummy dates, never trust them. Hope to see you in the forum!

LJ is putting her last touches to it now, but she is doing so with a brand new house full of contractors which are lovely distractions. Soon as LJ gets her portion done, we still have to wait on the publishers to do their work. We have been getting regular updates via the forum from LJ and she will frequently mention something about Strange Fate's progress in her blog.

Amazon is wrong. The books is not completed yet. The only site where you can be 100% sure of the release date is this site. Amazon uses "dummy dates" as I like to call them very frequently.

As soon as it is completed by Miss Smith, the publishers still have to do their part. LJ is near the finish line!!! I can assure you, when there is an official date, this site will be lit up like a Christmas tree letting us all know the exact date.

LJ has been giving fans status updates in her Forum. Keep an eye on her blogs, too, she sometimes gives us little updates there as well.

Sorry for your friend, but I have been waiting patiently since the 90s and will continue to wait. I want the Epic finale of The Night World to be mind blowing and I for one know you can't rush amazing things.

Miss Smith took a 10 year break due to severe emotional stress and writers block. She is a human being, not a machine.

She is very close to completing it, there is no date yet, and there will not be a date until it is in the publishers hands. Only trust dates you seen on THIS WEBSITE. Sites like Amazon and Barnes & Noble use "Dummy Dates". NOTE: The "dummy Dates" you see on those sites DO NOT COME FROM MISS SMITH and NEVER HAVE. In a recent email response to a fan, Miss Smith hopes that Strange Fate will be ready and out sometime next year.

When I finished Witchlight, I was at a speech meet. It was my freshman year of high school. I had a crush on the other person on my team doing my event. It was winter, and I was wearing this weird burgundy lycra dress, 'cause I was fourteen and had no fashion sense.

I'll be turning thirty at the end of this month. When I was younger, I used to have dreams of finding this book on the shelves at B. Dalton. At this point, I would read rough draft notes and be very, very happy. I've been waiting over half of my life, literally.

I'd say that I can't wait, but I think I've proven that I can. I want to know the end of the series that badly.
