Hi Mrs.Smith, I just have a quick question about Quinn and Dove. First of all, the soulmate principle states that every person has only one other person that is perfect for them. So if Quinn and Dove were soulmates and Dove died, how could Quinn be soulmates with Rashel also??? Or were Quinn and Dove not soulmates after all? Confusing!?!? Btw, I love your Night World series so much!

I think Aimee's absolutely right. I've read all of them at least twice and it clearly stated that Dove and Quinn were never soulmates just boyfriend and girlfriend until Quinn's dad killed her sorry if that ruined the rest of the story for you!

You've both got it right, Aimee and Tori. Quinn would have gotten a bit sour in any case, as Dove could never have really been his true mate. But it makes me wonder--if you have a soulmate--and s/he dies, do you get another chance? Ever? After all, there's reincarnation in the Night World.

Oops, used too few words there. I mean, if you're not locked into a cycle of karma like Thierry and Hannah. If your soulmate is a vampire and s/he dies, do you stand the slightest chance? I could never figure this out; it seemed too cruel.

You can. Theirry and Hannah did. (sorry if i spelled names wrong i let someone borrow my nightworld books and haven't gotten them back yet...) but hannah and theirry were soulmates and they kept meeting up in different lifetimes...and human souls reincarnate and all the soulmates are between humans and vamps or vamps and witches or...wait....ex cept jez and morgead. (i think those are the names) she was half vamp half human so...I'm not sure in her case. But i completely believe you do get second chances. and thirds, and fourths, and however many as long as one is still alive and the other has a soul that can recycle.

I have a theory. It goes like this: no soul is forever exiled from the world-even if you are a vampire. So technically, I think Dove died, got 'recycled' in the underworld and came back as Rashel. She was, in a way, a 'new' soul, but the love between the two souls ( Quinn and Dove/Rashel) did not die out. Can it work this way too? Since the book said that Rashel had awakened feelings that had died since Dove had died in his arms. oh, and I love the Night world series too! lamia and witches rock! :)

Sorry, I don't know what that ghostwriter will do with Bamon. The packagers and publishers are fully aware of this board, and all the others. With Stelena in mind for our heroine, they may well turn to Bamon for Bonnie.

As for "After Hours," I need to modify it. But I'm hampered by a little saga called Strange Fate. Also, do you think this is the time? Delena fans have just had the rug pulled out from under them.

In the Night World you retain the powers you are born with, although if you drink Lethe or something to make you forget you're a witch, you may never do witchcraft again. So, too, back in the old, old cave individual days, did some witches get turned into shapeshifters . . . but it's been so long that they've forgotten their witch powers. A witch/vampire mix like Mal, in Strange Fate, is a vampire who has the powers of a witch. What he turns out to be depends on how he's reared.

Okay, okay. I know I'm reposting this and it might make a few people angry, but I REALLY want to get these questions answered.

1) When you wrote Dark Reunion, is that what you intended to be the complete ending for the series, or did you know that you wanted to continue with it later?
2) I may be mistaken about this, but didn't there used to be a story about Damon and Bonnie posted (about them in the library, and werewolves attack)?
3) Are you and the publishers planning to post a sneak peek for the next Vampire Diaries book?
4) Are you allowed to write any Vampire Diaries related content (stories, etc.)?
5) This isn't so much of a question as it is a request to please post more stories and excerpts. Those things are addictive, and sure help pass the time between books!

Please respond if possible! I know this is a super long comment. :)
P.S. I love you! Your writing is inspiring and amazing, I love to reread all of your series!

1) Yes. But in the ten years while I wrote other series or trilogies, I felt new ideas about Elena come to me.
2) Yes. "After Hours"--taken down to edit when Alloy said that they would publish it if I put Damon into the beginning and found some way to make it and "First Date" into a novel. Well, no novel, but I decided I wanted Damon and Bonnie to kiss. (Sorry, Delena, it was a story!)
3) You still want a sneak peek? Fans from Oz are telling the whole story!
4) I don't know, but I'm not going to ask.
5) Thank you kindly. They also keep me from writing Strange Fate, but I will try to keep up with them.

Someone could probably correct me on this, but I think Katherine just THOUGHT she killed Klaus. Because he was an original, as he explained, he can't really die. The only way they got rid of him was thousands of unrest souls carrying him away, and as Elena said, they didn't actually kill him, they just took him somewhere where he couldn't hurt anyone else.

I had the same question as you did, and this is what my speculating came up with. Hope I helped! :)

When I wrote Katherine ranting and raving about all her evil plans (she was an obliging villain) I never imagined I would need Klaus for anything (this was the last book of the original trilogy) and so Katherine said she'd killled him. But later Klaus sort of exploded into my mind as a perfect villain, and I decided that he had been controlling Katherine, not vice versa. (He was an Old One.) So he and Katherine came to Fell's Church first, togethe r, and then drew Damon and Stefan (in that order) to the town. Katherine was saying what she'd been told by Klaus to say, and died before she had the chance to retract her words.

I've read most of your stuff, and will read whatever YOU write when it comes out. I hope to be an author one day too, but I have to say it's stuff like this that scares the crap out of me. I think you're handling it well though.

Anyway, I started out as a SE fan, but as I got to know Damon better, somehow I ended up in the Delena camp! I tried to like the whole Bamon idea, I really did-especially when I was in the SE camp-but I just couldn't believe it.

However, I was willing to accept whatever
happened, so long as it came from you. Now that it's not going to happen, I feel really let down.

I won't read TVD from anyone but you. Even if they end it the way I thought I wanted things to go, it just wouldn't feel right. These are not their characters. They're yours. You made them who they are. You know them better than anyone. No one else could do it right, let alone do it better.

Keep on writing! I'll keep on reading!

Okay I'm sure you are tired of people reminding you about this but I just got to know; since you have been released from HarperTeen does that mean that you will no longer write the sequel to The Secret Circle? If not, do we at least get to see Deep Waters posted on your website then? Also, on another note I absolutely adore you and can't wait until Strange Fate comes out! I would also love to see a sequel to Dark Visions because I just love that trilogy, especially Gabriel and I am so happy that you are actually considering on writing one. I love your books so much!

L.J. never really had anything to do with the TV show, so she can't be fired from it. She has been asked not to continue writing the Vampire Diaries series, and it's not plagiarism because technically a group called Alloy owns the rights to the series. This group is completely within their rights to publish more books with a ghost writer, however unfortunate that may be to L.J. and her fans.

The last three books for the Vampire Diaries series (I've already read Midnight; it was amazing!) are not going to be written by you? If so, can I ask why? In Shadow Souls when Elena had her out-of-body experiences, there is the silver chord between Stefan's and her heart - which in my opinion means they are soulmates!

Stefan and Elena aren't soulmates simply because there are no soul mates in The Vampire Diaries series. I made up the soulmate principle for the Night World series, and it's all part of the Old Magic which is on the rise again, culminating in the four Wild Powers fighting the Apocalypse in the (possibly) final saga Strange Fate. It's a bit confusing--or more than a bit--because before using the silver cord (the only other mythological option being a red thread from pinky finger to pinky)I had used a silver cord to show the connection of Cassie and Adam in Secret Circle and then, later, of Elena and Stefan in Shadow Souls. But a genuine soulmate guarantees you a genuine soulmate experience sometime or other: minds melting together, all secrets revealed, a feeling of being finally "home." And Elena and Stefan are just in love. And nobody should minus you for this question!

you have been my favourite author ever since I was 10 years old and I picked up 'The Hunter' in my schools libary. Now, 7 years later, I am still equally obsessed with it as I was back then. I don't understand why it didn't occur to me sooner, to see if you had a website on the internet. Anyway, honestly; it's my favourite book of yours and I fell in love with each character in it straight away. Jenny was a character that you could aspire to be; she starts off all gentle and whatnot but as the books progress you see how truly brave she is and loyal to the ones she loves. I also love the relationship between Audrey and Michael-there's a touching scene in 'The Kill' that I adore, where they're all in the tunnel of love and despair and Julian (who is my favourite character btw) is trying to pick them apart, but you see how much they love each other.
ANYWAY, is it true you're making a sequel?? That would make me so happy, but I don't want to get my hopes up incase you're not! :L

But perhaps not a sequel. If I am allowed to do a grownup book, I'll do a story about Julian meeting Jenny, an 18-year-old a week away from getting married to Tom. It won't be a sequel so much as a retelling--with perhaps a different ending. For those sticklers-to-fo rm there would probably be an explanation for a recurrent dream Jenny has of drowning and of blue eyes. But, Rachel, I am so glad you enjoyed Audrey and Michael's tunnel of love scene. I always liked that, myself.

The reason why it's different is because Lisa did not write Stefan's Diaries. This is called a Ghost writer. If you watch the Vampire Diaries tv show that is what Stefan's Diaries is going off of.

I think the general flower of shapeshifters and the specific flower of Galen Drache is snapdragons, because it comes from the dragons that made them into shapeshifters, You could alternatively say mandrake root, because of the "drake" an old name for dragon, but it's anot a flower. I did write Phantom and it will be used as a frame, but it will be edited all the way through by an anonymous ghostwriter. Since I wrote the origingal books as "work for hire" this is all perfectly legal. But incredibly painful.

I read a lot of comments and see that many people have read your books before watching "The Vampire Diaries" on TV and I felt kind of bad because i had never heard about you before I began watching the show. Of course now I think of them as two completely different things. After reading VD I started reading your other series until I read and re-read them all. Your books have reignited my passion for reading and now I just can't stop! I have read soooo many book series of yours as well as several other authors since I started reading again. I was furious when I saw that they are taking away your right to write the last two books - is it two? - of the Vampire Diaries.It's just PETTY!
I know, they have that right, your books weren't selling without the work for hire, but are they stupid, I have to ask? I mean, I know we, and you, got an amazing series out of it, but do they not REALISE that they aren't going to sell nearly as well as if they let the ORIGINAL AUTHOR publish them?
I mean, YOU, of all people, understand the characters. You KNOW the characters! I've started writing a fantasy series, and I know that you feel like you have a deep connection with the characters, like you know them. Do they think a ghost writer is going to nurture the series for its ending, and then lay it to rest in a way that the fans will appreciate? I think not. Sorry, Lisa, for bringing it up again when you probably just wanted to forget about it but I think this is something us fans should stand up for you against.

I've just read the Untold Vampire Diaries Tales and I loved them!! I thought "Elena's Christmas" was magical, sweet and a lot of fun! "Matt & Elena:Tenth Date" was really romantic and suspenseful and captured the tone of the Original Series!

I almost have not read DV because it is not the most talked about book on this site and Facebook or other. HOWEVER I am SOOO happy I did! Wow ! I don't understand why there is not much fuss about this story!? I myself am hardcore Delena fan in TVD but I must admit it is like the Dark Vision Story quenched my thirst for that. The tension in the story maybe?! I really liked how it ended and how it was brought on for the bad boy (I don't want to mention what; to not spoil it for anybody who has not read it yet :) )

I just wanted to make a comment from a 35 year Mum of two and all the other Mums at the school gate in the UK. We don't understand why Stelena holds ANY fascination for anyone. It's Delena all the way for us and I feel so bad for you that you can't write the end of a story that should be yours to write. Your publishers must be trying to appeal to all those 'fluffy' thirteen year olds out there. Now all us thirty something Mums MUST stop reading books meant for teens and pay more attention to our own children
