In The Return: Shadow Souls, aren't Elena and Stefan connected by a silver cord, the ultimate symbol of soulmates in your writing. So if Elena and Stefan are soulmates, how could Damon even figure into the picture? She could never really end up with him, or am I wrong?
I know you've talked about doing a Forbidden Game sequel, and I was just wondering if this would involve Julian and Jenny, or maybe a completely different Shadow Man and a new heroine? I don't want you to give too much away, I was just wondering if us Julian fans could look forward seeing him again. :)
I am so excited for Midnight! Thank you so much for blessing us all with wonderful writing! I've had a really hard time these past couple of years, and your books gave me the perfect escape.

I'm with you, I lived in a place I didn't want to go becauseof my parents. It was hard for me to be a social butterfly like I am now. Read LJ's books made me happy and I wanted to start acting fearless like some of her characters, so I did. Now, that I've move (yet again :-?) I have a fresh start and don't want to be that shy girl that is too scared to look someone in the face. I'm not that girl anymore, thanks to LJ

LJ, your books helped me survive 5 years of loneliness!! Thank you soooo much. I'm really upset they let you go too. I know they made a huge mistake and hopefully they'll know that one day!!

I agree with the question about elena and stefan.But I think that even though "if" her and stefan are soulmates that she would still be free to fall for another person.The heart I think has stronger will. so while she would be inlove with stefan and connected to him. she could still be free to love damon or whoever she wants. :) but that was a good question you had.

LJ answered it in Guestbook #4. She said:

I'm still confused though because their minds are melting together when they share blood and in the original books Elena says she feels "home" when she's with Stefan, but taking LJ's answer, they aren't(sadly!).

Hi, I'm confused too, because I' ve started reading the TVD series this January (I know I'm a bit late, but I only knew about these books, when the TV show came out, here in Italy)and I exactely remember,that Elena says, that she finally feels home when she's with Stefan.
I don't know abou Shadow Souls, because I'm starting reading it tonight, but yes it's really sad they're not soulmates, as to me, they are the perfect couple.

You said it!! That's how I feel. The creator and original author should be able to take these characters where ever she wanted to. How can you take the new books seriously when it's someone else dictating how it goes? You can't. That's why I'm not reading beyond Midnight. I wanted to go on the ride with LJ not with a ghostwriter.

Also I'm sure Lisa would continue to write Vampire Diaries if there was any possible way she could. She has fought long and hard to prevent/reverse Alloys decision. On another note, if you had the chance to finish the vampire diaries series, and if the series would have ended where you wanted it to end that was Midnight, would it have been damon and elena? I felt like the whole purpose of it was them, that bad guy in the picture that can be redeemed by love, like Gabriel was to Kait, or how at some point Julian became thanks to Jenny. So was it planned to be damon and elena in the end? It sucks we wont get to see this anymore, but it only matters to me to know i was in it for what you wrote. And i always figured it would of been them.

i wanted to post a comment right now before the comment board gets massive. I would just like to say that your books are the best in the world and you have a gift. when im older ( im 11) i want to be an author and if i have half as many fans as you do, ill be happy. At school were making card books and we had to write a ghost story. im on the last page of my book
(were only aloud 6 pages) and ive still got loads to do!!! my storys about a boy called Eddie who gets a call from his dead little sister jessica. He meets her at an abandoned house ( oooh spooky) and he has to go through 3 rooms in the house or else he'll die! (the room parts kinda like your forbidden game trilliogy)what do you think? is it good? cause if you say it is ill die! (proably not , but close to it)

L.J isn't going to be writing anymore vampire diaries books :cry:. The idea for it came from Harper and wasn't hers, L.J. was employed by Harper to write their ideas and since they didn't like the way things were going with the characters they fired her from writing those books and got someone else to write them instead.

I have been a fan of your books since 2008 when a friend got me into the super natural genre. i am sad to hear that you are no longer able to continue in the vampire diaries world. i want you to know that i own evey book that you have published so far and plan to (no matter what others think) to continue in my search to own all of you works. i really hope that you continue to write so many life like worlds that have given me many hours of joy to read. will you be posting any new stories to the site? i check back once a month at least for new updates in the LJ Smith world.

Okay, I have a question. You seem to always make a 'scary' forest in some of your book (from what I've noticed). In Dark Visions, the group had to travel through a weird forest to get to the Institute. In The Forbidden Game, one of the nightmares started in a strange, 'enchanted' forest. In Vampire Diaries, the malach control the forest. I was just interested on what made you carry this pattern.

So I kind of dobt L.J Smith will actually read this, but if she does I have one question thats been bugging me. Well I have a lot but this one in paticular. In Shadow Souls when Damon and Elena were on there way to get the last half of the fox key, they were in that litter. And Damon mentioned how the story was told a hundred times and nobody ever caught 'something.' Sorry, its been driving me crazy, I went through and re-read when Stefan was telling Elena his story in The Awakening but couldn't find anything.
Any help?

But then Damon goes back to loving Elena like they did in shadow souls.Then Shinichi gives Damon his memory back, then Elena has to tell Stefan what happend in the hotel room and he breaks up with her, then Damon helps Elena get over him and change her into his princess of darkness!!!!!!

Its been a long long time Ive waited for Strange Fate. Is it actually going to be published. I would rather be told a truthful definate no, than a perhaps.
I still adore The Nightworld series - I grew up with them and would love to know what happened to my beloved characters.

Honestly, I'm seriously pissed with whats going to happen with the Vampire Diaries series. You're the author! You deserve to finish it, and I mean that will all my heart. You are the best writer to ever live, and I have read every single one of you books and have loved every single one of them. I will not read a single book after Midnight if it is not written by you, because it won't have your voice in it. I love how you wrote your books, and that's never going to change. You were doing perfectly fine, so I don't know what's wrong with Alloy. The only reason I started to even watch the show, was because of your books. That being said, Im quite confused about why you wrote emails to fans giving away your intended ending for the book. You led Bamon and Stelena fans to believe that there was much hope for both of these couples. You played into our emotions, and convinced us that all your stories had a happy ending. (Where is Stefan's happy ending if Elena choses Damon?!!).

I am ju;st so sad because I really fell for your portrayal of Stefan and Elena. It seemed so passionate and intense, so heartfelt and raw, and to know that you planned to betray the epic love story you created between Stefan and Elena makes me so sad. I am also confused because there were so many hints for Bamon, so many storylines left open for them. If you were not planning to pursue them, then why? I invested so much in Stelena, and feel so sad :(

How can we ever accept any novel coming out about TVD, knowing that you, its creator, didnt believe in the story? I will never be able to accept any ending written by someone else, so I've lost just as much as any Delena fan out there. Plus, we Stelena/Bamon fans have to listen to some DE fans tell us how we won by default. Which is not what I, or any true fan, wanted. Which is why I am so sad to know that had you continued writing them, I would have undoubtedly lost any hope of a happy ending. It's a terrible situation, but NOT just for Delena fans. that LJ Smith got carried away with her own characters. Damons part was growing more and more with every book. And so was the story and the love between Elena and Damon growing. I think that an author has to go with the flow and that was at that moment, that Damons and Elenas feelings were deeper than anyone thought before. So I think it would have been totaly open, how the story would have ended...because going with the flow means everything is possible. That´s why I´m sad about changing the author...until now I was confident LJ Smith would do the right thing. I trusted her totally to take me with her the whole way, no matter which pairing it would be in the end. And I got carried away with her and the characters as well. But now...what will any ghostwriter do, that does not nearly love the characters like LJ Smith does? It´s very sad.

I just wanted to say my heart is crying that you won't be continuing the tvd series. I flicked through because i'm naughty and found all the bits set to wrench the soul, but I understand why you did this and why it is possibly the best ending for your arc of the series thus far.
I actually loathe the stelana partnership by now purely because he's the good guy, and hope in future stories just once or twice the bad guy gets his happy ending.
I still weep for julian and hope you really do get to sequal forbidden game series. I am not looking forward to finishing midnight because my heart weeps a little more the further in i get. I hope you have a good continue career that you can get these emotions from people such as us.

Don't hate me, but I also kinda agree. Elena acts like she's an angle with perfect hair and a perfect attitude. But really, I think she acts like a spoiled brat for the most part. Like that part when Damon first brought the girls to the Dark Dimension, she jumped onto the street and started getting hit by that awful vampire, Damon had to jump in and take some of the sting. Then when they were at the Doctor's he was cleaning her off, and she just kinda ambushed him, stalking him and *shudders* See what I mean? She just takes what she can from Damon while nobody's looking. That's just sad... Poor Damon. I'm always there for you, Damon haha =] And for Stefan, he's just likeable, and he doesn't even know what Elena does when he's away. Agai, please don't hate me!!

ELENA! so I wouldn't be able to buy into Bamon. It wouldn't feel real because we already know as readers that Damon is in love with Elena. Hi is it true that midnight is going to be the last book if anyone can reply to me that would be great when i heard about this i was very upset as i was going through a very hard time and i read you books and everything seemed happier and i am now 10x better than i used to be! I hope this is not true as the vampire diaries got me through a dark patch

I think it might be true.... but if im not right you can possibly find your answer in the other discussions they have on the older "GuestBooks" I know I was upset also about the annocement... well goodluck at finding the answer (if im wrong) :)

whats the story with the vampire daires books. i dont understand? quoting tori , L.J was forced to stop by her publishers to stop, but its like all over the site just look a little, it really sucks you can't publish any more L.J, but couldn't you publish them on your site, or is this copy right?

I understand that LJ will not write anymore vampire diaries books, but I have just finished Return:Midnight . I am looking forward o the continuation of the series, and will follow LJ's wishes not to boycott the publisher. I was just wondering if the series will just be about Stefan and Elena or if Damon will be involved. I won't mention spoilers here but I'm very much hoping he appears in the next book. Can anyone confirm this for me???????
