1st I must just say that I am a big fan! I hadn't read for quite a while & then I picked up Night World and found my love of reading again.. My fiance doesn't like it so much 'cause i totally zone out to the world around me!

In regards to NW.. Jez in Huntress is called a freak 'cause she is 1/2 Vampire 1/2 Human, but I was thinking, in Soulmate, when you get a better insite in2 how Maya turned Thierry into a Vampire, Maya says to him something along the lines of.. I will have a son (Red Fern) who will be like me, he will not be your's as once I turn you, you will not be able to procreate.. I was thinking, isn't Red fern 1/2 human 1/2 vampire also as Maya is the only 'original' Vampire, or did she get a male to do the same spell that turned her therefore making her son 'pure blood'?! It's somethin I've been thinkin 'bout.. but sometimes I do over-think things

Very good thinking about Red Fern. But you see, Maya was a witch, not a human, and witches and vampires are both part of the Night World and allowed to marry. The same situation holds for Hunter Redfern and Maeve Harman--and for that matter for James Rasmussen and Poppy North of Secret Vampire. In each case, the male was lamia (the kind of vampire who can have children) and the female was a witch, even if, like Poppy, a lost witch.

Jez, however is the child of a human and a vampire--someth ing that was thought impossible.

I finished Midnight last night!!!!
IT WAS SO GOOD!
The ending was BEAUTIFUL!
*SPOILER ALERT!!*
I am so glad Elena lives with J**i** and *a*g**e* again!!!
And the last chapter!!!!
AND WHEN ELENA ALMOST FROZE TO DEATH!
LJ, Bonnie was beautiful in this one! She has such a pure soul, it makes me fall in love with her more every page (You've created every girl's fantasy with Damon, and every guy's with Bonnie. I'm hopelessly in love with her).
My country, Egypt, is going through very difficult times - what with the revolution and all - and I am so glad I found an escape.
Very sad you won't be continuing your series, but I'm glad the ending is wonderful; I won't be reading the The Hunters trilogy, you see.
Very sorry about your illness.

I just read Midnight.....an d I loved so very much!! The ending was beautiful....an d I cried the whole time!! I know that this was your last book.....so I won't read the next books called The Hunters. I know that in the end of the book Elena stays with Stefan....but for me the only one that she truly loved was Damon...thats my opinion....and I have to say that I got sad because of the end of the story. Because for me the love between Elena and Damon was so deep and truly pure. And I think that her and Stefan never had that kinda of love.....but I love your book.....in my opinion is THE BEST of all your books...!!

P.S: I'm from Brazil so I'm sorry if I wrote something wrong.

I just finished reading Midnight, and it blew me away. I agree with you Melissa, the book was lovely, and the ending was so pure and oh i'm gonna start crying all over again. Anyway you get what I'm saying.(Don't Judge, I only found out a week ago)I heard that Midnight is the last book in the series, and now someone else is gonna start writing the series("The Hunters" don't worry I won't read it)and I have to ask you Why, Why, WHY are you letting them do that, please explain I don't get it;( Are you getting tried of writing this serie or what not. Please change your mind don't let another person write your series. it would ruined everything
1) the characters won't be the same, they'll have a differant personality
2) nobody else has your creative mind, it just won't be the same
3) I hope you get better,I read in your blog that you're feeling a little sick;(

Look, the rest of you fans may quarrel about how much you want to complete the story, etc. But the truth is, The Vampire Diaries is LJ Smith's baby. Her story. As I have said before in many places, Damon Salvatore is my name. It's on my social security card. I became a fan because of that coincidence in the 1990s and I am 29 years old. Story Damon's character has grown on me, shaped my upbringing. After watching the CW network change as much as they could on the show, I just frowned. Then I kept reading in this guestbook that they're going to violate the actual continuity of the books? That's the last straw. Not only will I boycott, I will organize a boycott. There are many forums and mailing lists for LJ Smith fandom. I will reach out, travel across the country, and notify many customers about any sequels under the Vampire Diaries title that aren't written by LJ Smith herself. Corruzione è perversione!

It doesn't matter whether she wants us not to boycott. It has to be done. And I'm not saying that I'll just boycott the books if she no longer writes them. That wouldn't make a difference; it would be like a grain of sand. I'm saying that I'll rally as many people as possible to the cause and print out information to leave at every Wal Mart, Target and bookstore to let people know these cheap tactics used by Alloy. They may own her story, but they can't say on the cover that it is written by LJ Smith if she did not write it. That is false advertising.

Well I was born with this name. I'm just not a fictional character in a book. Anyway, I've signed all the online petitions I could find. Vampire Diaries: Hunters (Phantom) seems like it will hit shelves in October. So with a little procrastination until October, I can wait until it's released. If the news isn't good and there is a ghost writer ripping off her name; there will be action. No replies from Alloy publishing.. They must think I'm not serious.

LOVE the nightworld series and i cannot wait for strange fate to come out!!!! im always on the internet looking for nighworld stories i just cant get enough! i really really really want to know what happens i must say that i have never been into a series as much as this one. the story line is amazing, i want a soulmate now!!!! i did have a question, will all of the night world characters (ash mary lynnete, gillian, etc) come out in strange fate? also from reading the short stories, how long did it take for the apocalypse to hit? in one of the stories it mentions that it did not happen at the millenium, just wondering! but overall i looooovvveee your books!

hi. There is a message in guestbook six that is very disrespectful to lj smith. I think it is message 896 but im not sure. I think i got banned from this site for a short while because i tried to quote a message from somebody and i put on the end "get off this site" but it went wrong so it looked like I was saying it. when i couldnt get on i was crying and in tears and so upset. we had to go to Pc world too get the computer checked. After a while i got back on but it was scary.

It's not that L.J. won't write another Vampire Diaries, it's that she can't. The series was taken away from her by her publisher. Someone else will be writing the series. Phantom, the next book, comes out in October.

As of right now, I think you're the most evil genius to have ever writen a book. This book! I don't even know how to express my love for it. I'm in total awe of it. The ending made me cry so hard! I've never been so attached to a character this much before. I did watch the series before I read the books, but I still loved Damon when I read the books.

I really hope Damon comes back somehow. I wouldn't mind seeing the others as well. You're so amazing! I am so glad I picked up these books, and read them. Thank you for writing such amazing books.

I love bonnie at midnight are pretty sweet and always thinking of others
Damon hates him at times for treatment as soon as I get elena it was horrible on his part

I also welcome the book after midnight shadow souls expected to be a book bamon and was not more that 1 time Delena Delena was more significatvo all bamon and unfair

I thought it was just a shadow souls bad move on the part of fans bamon but also midnight
love every moment of bonnie and bonnie plus and Damon, but that does not erase everything Delena

losiento but it was a bit disappointing

Bonnie was the weak point of damon
even she was the first person he met in the village
for me it is more romantic feelings toward bonnie damon damon than those with elena

Now over the years I've tried to get into books but normally I just can't make myself... But there is something about the story and characters in the Vampire Diaries that keep me into it. Right now I'm on the hunt for the 1st edition books from 1991. So far I've gotten "The Struggle" Book II and "The Fury" Book II. Now I'm need to get the other 2 books.

If Elena or anybody else empty's out a kitsunes's starball soes it kill them because I have almost read it and how does soembody control MIaso if they empty out the liquid first? Because they said that Damon had empty half of the liquid but if they emptyied alll the liquid wouldn't that just kill Miaso? But wouldn't they want to control MIaso and jut get her to kill Shinichi and then just pour the rest of the liquid out and then kill Miaso?

I am going tomorrow to the nearest bookstore to purchase this amazing book that is the holy grail of all vampire romance books.. And I'm saying all of this BEFORE I've even finished the book. And, I've just today heard of the atrocity that is going on. How could they DO this to you? What a bunch of fat cats! (I must refrain from calling them something else lest I'm banned from the website.) While I am 100% Stelena, how could you prove that they belong together if Elena didn't have the choice of Damon being dangled in front of her? If she didn't choose Stefan over Damon, then no one could really say that they belong together. The point I'm trying to make is that without throwing in something to shake things up, ie. I just finished Midnight and it was incredible! I cried so much when Damon died. I wish Damon ended up with Bonnie, I think they would be good together. I love the series but the only thing I didn't like was EVERYONE was in love with Elena. She belongs with Stefan and I hated that kept cheating on him with Damon. I started to dislike Elena a little. When I first finished the Night World series the release date for Strage Fate was said to be April 2010, and then it said April 2011. I don't remember her ever telling us who was on the cover, but I can tell you that it isn't Bonnie, because she has brown eyes. And it's not Caroline either, since she didn't have a really important role in this book. I think it may have been either Jessalyn (since she made Damon back into a vampire), or Iona, the Guardian. She was pretty important too.

I was also wondering about who thats supposed to be on the cover of Midnight, I agree that I dont think its Bonnie, but if its supposed to be Jesslyn or the guardian that doesnt really make sense to me either because they arent important characters??? All the other covers had Damon, Stefan or Elena. It would make more sense if it were Bonnie,she is ofcourse a VERY important character especially in Midnight. & if anyone has seen the released cover of Phantom, does anyone know who thats supposed to be?

I think it is Jesslyn because she was sorta important since she "HELPED" Damon out (dont want to give any spoilers for people who havent read it!)And she has that dark red lipstick type stuff on so..... and she didnt have the headband with the stone on it type thing. she wasnt wearing that. so.... I think it might be her.

Like a lot of people, I read the Night World series about 12 years ago and so have been waiting that long for Strange Fate. And I'm sure everyone who has read those books realizes too that the millenium is faaaaaar over. But the fact that L.J. is finally going to get Strange Fate out means that she had a fun oportunity to change the millenium to something just as dramatic. I may not like the fact that the book's release date keeps getting pushed back but that keeps me holding on. While I wait I keep re-reading the whole Night World series which is still, and always will be, good and one of my favorite book series. Not to mention fanfictions make the wait even more fun. Take as long as you need L.J., I'll wait another 12 years if I have to, just make sure that the finished product is what you like.

As you can imagine, Lisa does not have time to answer every single question that is being asked here in the Guestbook. Answering questions that come up here can seriously be a full time job for someone but Lisa needs to devote much of her time to writing books that fans enjoy so much. If she happened to answered your question then you should consider yourself lucky. If she did not, then do not take it too personal, less time spent here means she is busy writing and the book that you want to read will be published that much sooner.

I completely understand what you are saying. When I left this comment I hadn't read too much of they guest books. In the first few guest books, it seemed like L.J. had answered a lot of questions, by that time it was already up to guest book 8. So I decided not to read all of them and just post my question. What I did not realize is that suddenly she was able to answer all of the questions because it was very time consuming. I was just curious. I don't want this too be taken negatively. And for the record, I never said it was a right, nor do I think of it like that. I just know that from the people I have talked to this is the question they ask me, as do people here on this website. I love your books, particularly the last one. One could dip into this story, con-fevers, waited on the next volume, then, like it now to know goes on. Was not conscious that this would be the last when yet I bought the last volume. The end .... wow!
I would too like further like it only to go to learn became, like you imagine it, it is finally your history!
It isn't to destroy your work fairly so that makes me very sadly. By chance I found a petition for all fans in the net everyone but also really everyone should sign. It is your history at all readers from the publishing house it is then deceit as she would always end, too for 2 reasons, into first Lienie! Because it will never be TVD again without you! She is such a good writer and I really enjoy her books. I wish that Strange Fate would come out soon but ah well! I will just have to sit and wait and I'm okay with that. While I do that, I will just be rereading Night World since its amazing. For some reason I could not finish Vampire Diaries. It's probably because it made me so mad...I love Damon and I feel like he's always getting the short end of the straw.

I wish he would get with Bonnie already haha.

I was glad in the 3rd volume, I think it was, that we got a little insight into Damon's world...made me really take a good look at him. Anyway, love L.J Smith and I will be back repeatedly to visit the site whenever I can
