Hey CC :) I think it's great that you always remind people of this at the start of every guestbook. You are such a loyal fan of hers and I'm glad we have somebody like you at the heart of our fanbase Ms. Smith is lucky to have you supporting her and we are lucky to have you giving us your opinions in the forum. :) Okay, soppy moment over. Hi xD
Thanks for saying such nice things. I adore Lisa and will always support her. I also really enjoy interacting with other fans like you. You are always so positive and have interesting ideas.
Lol you're welcome. I just feel that your support needs to be recognised You're everywhere on this site - helping out with everything xD We'll all support LJ, whatever happens. Haha of course we're positive - we're discussing amazing books and characters!
I agree with Tina, I think it is amazing how the first post of each guestbook, is your petition. I would like to know, if you personally know Lisa, since you are so avidly on the site. :) I think your contribution to this site has definetely not gone unnoticed :)
Lisa and I are friends and I do some research for her as well. However, I was doing what I do in regards to the ghostwriter issue before I knew her because it is something I’m passionate about. She never, ever asked or expected me to do anything about it. She is just so classy that I doubt it even crossed her mind. Every positive thought you have about her is true and then some. The more I get to know her the more I admire and respect her. I appreciate that there are so many fans standing behind Lisa because I really can’t accomplish anything in regards to sales by myself. Every person that has refused to buy the book or told even one person about the situation is just as amazing you say I am.
I just wanted to say that i'm very disappointed that Lisa is not going to be writing anymore vd books. I won't buy anymore books in this series until she is allowed to write them. And the 10 girls in my group that reads vd will not buy a thing either.
Thank you for reposting this! I know I want to help prevent a ghostwriter from writing what should be written by the one and only, L.J.Smith. and now I have a fews ways to help make sure that happens! I hope if we can get at least everyone one on the site to help and more we could totally make an impact on this ghostwriter! Also thanks for posting the websites and e-mail addresses, I now have to write a letter or two:P Anyways thanks again! Ms. Smith is lucky to have you as such a big fan!;-)
Thank you for posting this as I am new to the forum and just learned about the sad situation I will make sure I utilize the information you posted. If all the fans stick together and use every link above they will not be able to ignore us!
I know that at the top of the Guestbook that L. J. is working on Strange Fate, but what about the other books she is writing? Also, does anyone have any news about those short stories that she posts on this website, and if there are going to be any new ones soon? Thank You!

Hi Rosalie, Updates about the books are posted under "News and Announcements" on the Forum, so if you haven't joined yet that is another reason to do so. Lisa is working on Strange Fate, Brionwy's Lullaby, and Eternity:A Vampire Love Story. The first two are further along and are being edited. As for short stories, I'm sure she is concentrating on the books and won't be putting up stories for awhile.
If you google on TVD Phantom, you will see lots of site saying it's written by LJ Smith. Oh, the nerve. They fired her and now they're using her name???? I can't believe they have the cheek to do that. :( What do they plan on achieving???? >

Hi Elayne, Were you able to post anything under comments or somewhere to set them straight? It drives me nuts when I see stuff like that. I know some pages don't allow comments but whenever I can I spread the truth. What they hope to gain is probably money from unsuspecting fans. It's not like there is a medal for "Stupidest Decision of the Century" or anything. (lol)

Elayne Tan2011-11-04 06:16
Nope, sadly not. Many unsuspecting fans handed over their money because they didn't notice the small "created by" words on the cover. It's kind of disturbing to see them not noticing that LJ's not writing anymore. By the way, do you think Japan sells TVD ? I know basic Japanese so I wouldn't mind helping to keep an eye (or ear) out.
0#RE: Re re : Oooh, the nerve —
Christina Crowley2011-11-04 09:28
I know that Amazon Jp sells Phantom. I'm not sure about other sites. That would be wonderful if you would post something. Some sites let you start a discussion. Other sites only allow comments under reviews. If you do a review, be sure to say you didn't read the book. That is just so we are always honest even if others aren't.
I cant belive this is the first I am hearing of this and I bought the book to OMG I am so mad right now should I burn the book because if it is not writen by LJ. Smith then why read them or make them still this really makes me mad
You Guys Are Stars! And rest assured we in Europe and america do care and mourn deeply alloy disgusting decision to use a ghostwritwer over Lisa who wrote this magnificent charters and addicted books, I should know I have been reading her books since I was 12 and now am 26 and am still reading them. I cant complete Midnight as it will be the intentionality last book in the series and for that my heart is not ready. lol sofia
I'm so fed up with this. I want LJ writing her series, the way it should be. Parts I read of Phantom (didn't buy it) were horrible. Characters lacked and seemed different-- unrecognizable. I get so worked up and emotional every time I think about what they did. Whether or not it was legal, it was immoral, and personally, I see it as disgusting. LJ is an amazing writer and an inspiration to many. How can they not see how this has affected so many lives? TVD books use to be one of the few things I looked forward to in my life-- and now...?
I still can't believe what they did... How dare they do something that horrible to such an amazing woman?! First, Stephenie comes along and makes cheep imitations of her books... and makes a fortune! Then, the CW rapes her work with its unsatisfactory TV shows and makes a fortune! Finally, as if that wasn't enough already, her own publishers stab her in the heart and fire her... and continue to make a fortune! HOW DARE THEY?! It just makes me so angry! I love The Vampire Diaries and all her other books. HER stories and HER characters have always seemed more real than anything eles around me. And eventhough I'm dying to know what happens next, I'm NOT going to buy Phantom. I'm a loyal fan of L.J.'s and I WILL NOT support the people that make money off of her amazing series by cheating her like that! If you should read this L.J., please know that your fans support you to the end!!!
I agree with all you say with a big amen! minus the choice of words regarding CW and series The series by the genius kevin williamson has bought more fan's to lisa, hopefully loyal but the series has to go by tv standards not books and script and book formats are very different. CW or K.W have nothing to do with alloy atrocious decision to fire beloved friend, author, literacy parent Lisa.
K.W has commented positively on Lisa writing which taps into his younger side, which were shown on this site. Lisa herself has commented positively on kevin's work. For the scream / dawson creek writer to work on any authors work is big and lisa indeed is lucky in this incident. K.W has V.D's in constant media light hopefully this will alert more readers / fan's of lisa turmoil and hopefully we as FANS CAN BE POSITIVE / CONSTRUCTIVE IN THIS MATTER AND SPEAK LESS NEGATIVE SO THAT WE DONT UPSET LISA as i think this was the reason she took a break from the site.
Although the 2 boys and 1 girl scenario was started by Lisa in the supernatural aspect, especially a vampire in turmoil and drinking animal blood but the similarities stop thier. If I was on this site for Stephanie i would continue but since im not - i have made my point, hopefully lol
While I agree with that what happend to L.J is sad and disrespectful. I DO have something to say about Stephanie. The simularities between their books ARE NOT copied. I have read every singel book LJ Smith has out right now and all of Stephanis' s books and the "simularities" that everyone is saying was stolen was in fact NOT stolen but used by ALOT of athuors who write about vampires and other such fantacy. They are the same things that have been used and reused over and over again. I am a person who studies fraud cases and other copycat troubles and know for a fact that no wrong has been done to our lovely athuor by Stephenie, but the newer one IS very bad. I am sorry but vampires and the like are open and trust me when I say there is only so much you can use until things start repeating themselves. You can get mad if you want but I have read all books in this problem and nothing is being copied that hasn't be done 1000 times over with their own unique ways.
Guys, I'm not SURE about this, but I'm pretty sure "the book" didn't end up on any bestseller list. Which I believe The Return books DID (correct me if I'm wrong). So maybe the fanbase is making an impact with their wallets, which is an important thing to do!
That's good, that it isn't on a bestsellers list, I just wrote a review on phantom on a dutch website bol.com, telling everybody that the book is rewritten by a ghostwriter and I am not going to read it therefore...

As much as I hate to bring it up, I'm sure it is on everybody's minds, and I hope this doesn't come across as a 'Just leave it alone', but I just wanna say I feel awful about Phantom being out there... But I am proud to see the reviews that have people asking for LJ to come back. One in particular says something like 'You could always tell LJ loved each and every one of her characters, no matter how small or large their role was'. And it's so true! The passion I feel whenever Bonnie or Matt, or Damon or anyone else open their lips..... I'm just glad that we got to experience it.
I think it is a tragedy, but I will most definitely be following LJ's new projects, especially her 'Eternity' series, which I hope comes to fruition soon. LJ, we love you, and for us, TVD ended at 'Midnight'. And what an ending it was.
I've gotten hold of this email and have decided to post to show that the L. J. Smith fans around the world intuitively know when something is not right with their beloved characters and plots...
Ms. Smith-
I wasn't able to write a review on amazon, since I didn't buy the book off there and it won't allow me to write one otherwise. (I don't know if the have different regulations on the american site, but the canadian has lots of them.) I did however write a review on Chapters/ indigo site. (It's the more widely used site to buy books in Canada anyways.) Here's a copy of my review"
"I had originally been planning on not reading the new books due to the fact that L.J. Smith wasn't/ isn't writing them. However this one was given to me as a gift and out of sheer boredom I started reading it. Now that I've finished it, I can honestly say that it was one of the worst books I've ever read. The ghost writer completely erased everything L.J. Smith wrote in the other 7 books. As well you'll find that the characters are completely different. There attitudes are nothing like the original characters. Also major flaws in referencing other books. You might also be wondering - if you are unfortunate enough to read the books- why such poor writing accompanied by a terrible and boring plot line made it to print, let me just tell you, you're not alone. There is also close to zero stelena OR delena moments. My recommendation is for all the fans of the series (stelena and delena alike) to not bore themselves with this book but create your own ending. L.J. Smith worked for decades on this series and she and her characters deserve a better ending than the one given to them by the publisher."
I've also emailed the publishing company expressing my displeasure, however to no one's surprise did not receive a reply. Thank you for your kind response, I was not expecting it so fast or at all really. You've just reconfirmed that you will always be one of my favourite authors.
Dear L J Smith, (hope you reply) Originally I was not planning on reading this book, but then I thought, Let me read it and see what the Alloy company and Harper thinks can POSSIBLY replace the amazing writing of yours. I checked it out from the library because I don't think money is worth to be wasted on this book and honestly I was right. OMG!!! That 'author' can't possibly EVER face up to you. I got bored on the first two chapters, when with your original book I can't fall asleep at night!! The book had no romance, no point, the title unravels the whole story, no suspence and the characters are nothing like they're suppost to be. I was honestly shocked by this book. Either way if I can't read the Vampire Diaries I am SOO happy there are other books out there by you. Anyways, That book was a disaster. It was all over the place. I hope they reconsider you when they read this book themselves. Who by the way is the ghostwriter? (who does not have your style.)
Thank you so much for taking Christina's wise advice [if u did] of not buying but borrowing phantom if you must - this is a method of boycotting Alloy [less$/£]. As upset as I get by reading, Lisa Fan's have read Phantom, after knowing it is ghostwritten. I must add Christina was right, her calmness exudes on me and viola - A Dozen, Non Paid For Awful Reviews. For whoever didn't believe it, there is a God. lol Thank For The Hope - Alloy May Realize Their Mistake!
I'm so sorry, Lisa, but I borrowed the book from the libary (I thought since I wouldn't actually be buying it I wouldn't be contributong to Alloy's money-making) because i was curious. I couldn't get through it though, it was too painful. A word of advice to Lisa's others: STAY THE HELL AWAYFROM THIS BOOK. The writing is appalling (seriously, I can write better than that and I'm not even good) and the characters are flat imitimations of their originals. If you happen to pass this dreadful book in the shelves at the book store, RUN AWAY FROM IT LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT. It's horrific. Lisa can do a 1000000000 times better job than this horrific ghostwriter who didn't even have the curtesy to, like, get to know the characters. And Secret Circle is going to be ghostwritten? Way to ruin another great series, I HATE ALLOY.
Please share your review on sites that ask for book reviews. I don't know what country you live in but my local library here is the U. S. allows me to post reviews online and that links into Library Thing which I believe can be accessed in several countries.
I saw the Phantom book yesterday at Walmart, and I was surprised another book had been released so quickly after Midnight. I was upset at the time because I didn't have enough money to get the hardback. But now I know I was actually lucky. I would have been totally devestated about purchasing a book not written by LJ Smith. The idea of someone else writing the Vampire Diaries is un-comprehendable!

Same here. I went to a bookshop and just have a browse and seriously, the more I read, the more dull it gets. I'm going to put up a review online and make sure LJ Smith fans don't fall victims to this.
Hey everyone, I have the best news possible! I was in Eason's bookshop in Cork and Limerick (Ireland) over the last two weekends and I'm not sure exactly why, but Phanthom wasn't in either of them. Now Eason's has a large chain of bookshops around Ireland and U.K. and more places probably, so they have all the lastest books. I couldn't see it anywhere. Now I don't no if this is the case in all Eason's stores. It might come in or it might never come in, I'm not sure. I was afraid to ask incase they thought I was looking for it and ordered it. This is great because if people don't see it they wont buy it! And I know it's out because I saw it in another shop. I read a line of it and you could tell something was missing, it wasn't Lisa's writing I just wanted to show that our work is paying off, and I say is because there is still a bit to go. Weldone!
It's Sofia - you advised me to continue my story, ignoring that an idea has been shared with another ... Anyway, don't be afraid to ask why The book isn't out there - they wont place an order unless you ask. As for why to asking, Im curious as to what the reason is? lol thanx fro the post - you put a smile on my face, that our united Fan Front is working. Also their is some sadness, that a Lisa book is not doing well but that was Awful Alloy Choice. I Hope The Phrase Catches on.
I guess I way curious too about the ghostwriter, and considered borrowing from the library (I would NEVER actually buy it). I think all writers have their own style, and when you come to like one person's paticular writing, it's really impossible to accept a new writer (especially a bad one . . .to put it mildly)for a series that we all love. I'm so sorry for Lisa, and if she happens to read this, we're all behind you! (And looking foreward to whatever you bring us next) xxxx
What happend to my account on the forum??? I can't log in with the username and password I have got on my email??? Could you tell me what happened???
Yes, likely it was deleted. I purge the Forum of "Watchers" each night. As the rules states, you need to post minimum of single Forum post(once in your entire membership) and you must not have done that. Go back and register again and this time follow the rules and post. Your account will be left alone. Good luck.
I did though the first time... I introduced my self and reacted on the reactions I got on that... I did introduce my self again should my account be allright know... If it helps my username is Ietjuh??? Thanks Irene
I just saw your account and looks like you've got 3 posts already so you are fine. Only those that do not post the minimum requirement are deleted each night. Thanks for posting and you are free to roam and interact with awesome Forum members. Welcome!!

Sounds like your email filter gets overzealous in deleting new emails. Why don't you click the "Contact Administrator" button on the right hand column to send me your information. I will personally create the account and approve your registration. This way we can take out your problematic email system out of the equation and get you in the Forum. So send me your preferred "USER NAME, PASSWORD AND EMAIL ADDRESS" right now and I'll do the rest.
Just click the "Forum" tab at the top of this page. Sign in if you haven't already. Then introduce yourself at the "Welcome Mat" or post in any topic. There are additional tabs along the top of the Forum page. Good ones to check out to get acquainted are "Rules" and "Help."
Here is a link to Welcome Mat. http://www.ljanesmith.net/www/forum/welcome-mat
Is this site free to sign up as a member? Because I can't find out if it is or not anywhere, and I don't want to have to sign up for something that is going to cost me. I'm sorry if this sounds rude or something, but I don't have a credit card, and don't really want to have to pay just for an account anyways. So please tell me. Make it clear, I don't mean to intrude or anything, but I would really like to know Thanks
Becoming a member is totally free and gives you access to the Forum where you can share ideas with other L. J. Smith fans and find out the latest information on upcoming books. It's lots of fun! Hope to see you there.

As Christina Crowley (this site's Global Moderator) stated above, your membership to this site/Forum is absolutely FREE! L. J. Smith does not want your money. She just want you to be part of her international fan base and share your love of reading her books. Nothing more. Getting access to the Forum is really simple and easy. Just follow the specific instruction, especially about the "posting of minimum of 1 post." If you don't then I end up having to remove you at the end of each day. We have well over 10,000 Forum posts so you have more than enough to soak up.

I didn´t know that Lisa didn´t write "Phantom". So I bought it. And started reading. And then I thought: What the...? It was so obvious that she didn´t write it. It was terrible, all my beloved characters were totally wrong. What they said, what they thought, how they acted. I couldn´t force me to read it to the end and I wrote everywhere where I could a review about the terrible quality of this book. Please don´t buy any books of the ghostwriter, it will just make you sad. I will NEVER buy any of those books again, if it is not written by Lisa herself!

Don't worry. All of Lisa's other books are with a different publisher and will only be written by her. The Vampire Diaries after Midnight and The Secret Circle sequels are the only ones that will be written by a ghostwriter.

I cant complete Midnight as it will be the intentionality last book in the series and for that my heart is not ready.
lol sofia
I agree with all you say with a big amen!
minus the choice of words regarding CW and series
The series by the genius kevin williamson has bought more fan's to lisa, hopefully loyal but the series has to go by tv standards not books and script and book formats are very different.
CW or K.W have nothing to do with alloy atrocious decision to fire beloved friend, author, literacy parent Lisa.
If I was on this site for Stephanie i would continue but since im not - i have made my point, hopefully
lol
i can trust you always to leave a unique, smart, calm comment

I think it is a tragedy, but I will most definitely be following LJ's new projects, especially her 'Eternity' series, which I hope comes to fruition soon. LJ, we love you, and for us, TVD ended at 'Midnight'. And what an ending it was.
Ms. Smith-
I wasn't able to write a review on amazon, since I didn't buy the book off there and it won't allow me to write one otherwise.
Thank you so much,
-Madison

My Positive Energy Is Coming Your WAY
Hi Sofia. I am getting ready to sign the package of "Positive Energy" coming across the Atlantic to this West Coast State.
For whoever didn't believe it, there is a God.
lol
Thank For The Hope - Alloy May Realize Their Mistake!
And Secret Circle is going to be ghostwritten? Way to ruin another great series, I HATE ALLOY.

I have the best news possible! I read a line of it and you could tell something was missing, it wasn't Lisa's writing
It's Sofia - you advised me to continue my story, ignoring that an idea has been shared with another ...
Anyway, don't be afraid to ask why The book isn't out there - they wont place an order unless you ask.
As for why to asking, Im curious as to what the reason is?
lol
thanx fro the post - you put a smile on my face, that our united Fan Front is working.
Also their is some sadness, that a Lisa book is not doing well but that was Awful Alloy Choice.
I Hope The Phrase Catches on.
I think all writers have their own style, and when you come to like one person's paticular writing, it's really impossible to accept a new writer (especially a bad one . . .to put it mildly)for a series that we all love. I'm so sorry for Lisa, and if she happens to read this, we're all behind you! (And looking foreward to whatever you bring us next)
Yes, likely it was deleted. I purge the Forum of "Watchers" each night. As the rules states, you need to post minimum of single Forum post(once in your entire membership) and you must not have done that. Go back and register again and this time follow the rules and post. Your account will be left alone. Good luck.
Sorted!
I don't understand this.
Thank you for your kind offer of help, but I think I'll just try to set up a new email and hope that works.

I found it very overwhelming at first but as i have dipped into it the more it engages me...

We appreciate your truthful review of those books so that others would know.
and it was absolutely truthful! If I would have known, it is a ghostwriter, I think I would have read the book, so that I can honestly say what I think about. And actually I cannot believe they printed such a terrible book and sold it. It is unbelievable. I will miss Lisa´s great writing forever! But I will be very happy about her other new books.
i love all your books.im new here cause now i found about guestbook..sorr y
