I just want to let the Black Rose prize winners who have checked in so far (and, thank goodness, we’re now down to two no-shows) that I meant to mail their prizes on Saturday but didn’t. I hope to do it in the next couple of days. Buying a house can be quite frenetic, and sometimes I’m not good at multi-tasking.
I should probably also mention that today my doctor just served up a new slice of excitement in my life: apparently I have some major health issues to do with my innards. I asked him how concerned he was about them on a scale of one to ten and he said “A five.” That may sound comforting—at least it’s not an instant death sentence, but it was enough to turn me, a lily-livered coward, into a bleached-white-livered coward in one blow. And worst of all is that I have a sneaking suspicion that he was trying to reassure me.
So it’s off to the hospital for sonograms and x-rays, and various tests of my bodily fluids. I really, really hate this kind of thing. I think that instead of trying to cram the Meredith’s Sapphire and Diamond Necklace contest into the last week before Midnight comes out, that I will simply count down the days until, say March 17, when the book should be in all bookstores, and then start the biggest contest I’ve held yet to celebrate its advent.
So . . . a ten day countdown starting . . . right . . . now!
