img_comiccon_sdWith so much energy being poured into the teenage angst-ridden vampire genre these days, it was due time for the witchcraft category to have its turn. The CW is about to release the first episode of the new show, The Secret Circle, a young demographic series that focuses on the lives of teens that utilize the powers of nature and magic. Ironically, The Secret Circle was adapted from a book by author L.J. Smith who also penned the novel series The Vampire Diaries of which was also brought to television and currently plays on the CW network as well. Like so many studios and artists excited to debut their work, The Secret Circle came to San Diego Comic-Con this year, bringing along various cast and crew to appeal to the supernatural fan bases. Britt RobertsonFans of L.J. Smith's The Secret Circle novels will be pleased to learn that elements of her trilogy will live on in the new CW series. But just like with The Vampire Diaries, the producers have taken liberties in the show's creation.

An example? The Secret Circle (spoiler alert!) kills off someone who survived the entire book series within the first five minutes of the premiere. While that won't be the only difference from the source material, executive producer Kevin Williamson says they "hope to be as true to the story as we can." Read More.

Six New Posters for upcoming The Secret Circle on CW.

They are certainly spending good amount of effort to push the new series. I am hoping that this upcoming TV series will turn new fans to original books by L. J. that started all. And to celebrate their launch, Lisa has a brand new The Secret Circle contest coming up in early August. I've seen the prizes and they are beautiful! ~ Admin.

img_hollywood_crushL.J. Smith, author of "The Vampire Diaries," wasn't immediately jumping for joy when she heard her novels were being optioned for a TV series.

"I've had other things optioned before [that haven't been made], so my reaction was at first, 'OK, another one of those,' " Smith told MTV News. "But then when they said it was by Kevin Williamson, I realized it was probably a little bit more serious.

"Now that the CW series is about to air its third episode tonight at 8 p.m. ET, Smith isn't holding back any praise, regardless of the changes producers have made to her stories and characters. Read More.
