The teams all came together on the mysterious island tonight, as we learned all about why Shane wants The Cure. In a nutshell? It's to save his dead wife. Who was a witch. And their son. And he doesn't really care about the lengths he must go to do so.

Elsewhere, Klaus nearly killed Caroline with his bite. But then saved her after she made a plea to his humanity.

Finally, Damon got into a fight with a member of The Five. That's where the episode faded to black.

Katherine returned to The Vampire Diaries this week, knocking out Elena at the bottom of the magic well and then seemingly killing Jeremy in order to use his blood to feed and wake Silas and then grab The Cure for herself.

Follow all that? Good.

The evening's other big development was that Klaus allowed Tyler to get a head start, for Caroline's sake. He still wants to kill Tyler for turning on his Hybrids, but Tyler escaped town for now and we don't know where he ran off to.

Stefan and Rebekah grow closer this week after the Mayor dares to cancel the 1980s Decade Dance, while Jeremy's mark grows after Elena and Jeremy work to kill Kol.

Elsewhere, Bonnie uses a spell to lock Klaus in the Gilbert living room, so everyone can come together and go after The Cure.
